Ovesco secured an award worth £10,000 at the Ashden Awards ceremony on the 22nd of May for its work on renewable energy in Lewes District. The money will  go towards new projects in the District. According to Liz Mandeville, one of the Ovesco directors at the ceremony, even more important than the grant was learning from the other finalists about some of the marvellous inventions and successes in both the UK and other parts of the world. From small but effective work on reducing energy use in schools, via provision of renewable energy in remote villages by smart cards and the mobile telephone network, to a 44% reduction in energy demand in both new and existing buildings achieved by the global IT giant Infosys, it really does seem that, slowly, the world is changing direction. Indirectly, everyone involved with Ovesco is a contributor to that change. Let’s pat ourselves on the back!
